Teacher of the Year 2024
Every year, the Charlotte Public Schools have elected teachers from each school nominated for consideration for the prestigious recognition of 'Teacher of the Year'. Lorraine Crittendon received this for her school in 2016 and 2024!

Night in Rio 2024
Night in Rio is Charlotte's annual Brazilian Carnaval! Lorraine's first time participating in this event was 2018. This full circle moment was Lorraine's debut as a single Sambista, an independent Dance Artist and an opportunity to participate in the Samba community.

Dance Artist Alliance of CLT 'Master Class'
Lorraine is a member of the non-profit organization known as 'Dance Artist Alliance of Charlotte' in an attempt to build up the dance community and to support other local dance artists. She was asked to present along side her peers to speak on starting up a dance troupe and the keys to success in the first 5 years.

UNC Charlotte 'Guest Teacher' for Latin Blends
Lorraine Crittendon returned to her alumni of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a guest teacher for the rising and future Dance Education majors within the Dance Department. LCritt gave a demonstration of her 'Latin Blends' as a culturally responsive approach to dance education in public schools.

Charlotte Ballet's 'Dance Educator of the Year' 2024
Every year, Charlotte Ballet aims to recognize local Dance Educators of all experiences, backgrounds, and locations. Lorraine Crittendon was the recipient of the 2024 award for Dance Educator of the Year for her first time ever!

LCritt is featured in CMS 'Pillars of Excellence' Article
LCritt was offered the opportunity to be interviewed for the 'Pillars of Excellence' feature of the CMS digital publication to highlight her public dance education classes at her Title I school (read here)

Loose Leaves Spring 2024 Hostess
Lorraine Crittendon is the Secretary Board Member of Loose Leaves Showcase. She had the honor to return to host the Spring 2024 event to bring energy and positivity to the community that Loose Leaves aims to foster within the Charlotte area.

Language of Dance (level I) Certification
Language of Dance is an official and world recognized annotation system based on Laban notation popularized within the Modern dance community and created by Ann Hutchinson Guest. Through this framework pedagogy, Lorraine obtained her Level I certification.

Greensboro Carnaval 2024 *debut*
Lorraine Crittendon partnered with Charlotte gem, Iya Silva Campbell, to participate in Greensboro's first ever 'carnaval'. The event focused on the various carnaval celebrations around the world. LCritt and her dance troupe, Charlotte Cultural Collective, presented their original 'Brazilian Blends' with their guest choreographer, Mama Iya.

LCritt's 34'th Birthday
Lorraine celebrated her 34th birthday under the weather. This made for a reflective celebration as she prepared for a new phase in life. A soon to be graduate, new home, and new opportunities!

LCritt returns to Loose Leaves, Fall 2024
LCritt and her dance troupe, Charlotte Cultural Collective, return to the stage for their Season 6 debut, 'Xriss-Xross'. An exploration of Black grief through the Femme lens set to the backdrop of Janet Jackson's and Tupac 'Poetic Justice' film.

LCritt and Danielle Houston, New Year's Eve
To close out the 2024 year, Lorraine joins back up with her Samba Sister, Danielle Houston, to dance into 2025 at a New Year's Eve party! Here's to bringing old friends into the new year. Happy 2025!
